It never checks off hands' weapons IAS, (but it does check off hands' weapons' base speed) so putting ebotdcb for eg: (with its 60%IAS) in off hand slot will do NOTHING for your IAS total. If you make Grief out of the PB youll get +40%IAS attack speed added, then non weapon IAS from gloves ammys, belts etc. So if you had (for eg) a Phase Blade (-30) in main hand and a Colossus Sword (+10) in off hand, the average becomes -10. The base weapon speed of each weapon in each hand is averaged. If you're playing a Frenzy Barb then you already have to meet the requirements for an ethereal Breath of the Dying Colossus Blade (needs to be a Colossus Blade because of the 6 sockets needed) so the lower requirements of the Colossus Sword don't mean anything. That also leads to the fact that they're, well, cooler. So, 5 Open Socket Ethereal Colossus Blades are much rarer, therefore much more valuable. In other words, if you find an unsocketed ethereal Colossus Sword, it will automatically get 5 sockets, but a Colossus Blade would have to be cubed in order to get 5 sockets and the odds are obviously not on your side for that one. 5 Open Socket Colossus Blades are much harder to find due to their maximum sockets being 6 as opposed to the max of 5 with Colossus Swords. Since the primary hand sword is used in calculation for Frenzy attack speed, the negative of the Colossus Sword (speed) is taken out of the picture leaving only the positives behind.īut. This is favored by Frenzy Barbs for taking on Ubers because of the huge damage mods.
